Identification of potent and selective drug-like ligands for therapeutically relevant siglecs

Benedetta Girardi

Benedetta Girardi graduated at the University of Trieste (Italy) in October 2017, with a MSc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology. During her studies, she carried out her master thesis with an Erasmus fellowship at the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory of the University Complutense of Madrid, where she worked on the development of inhibitors of the bacterial protein FtsZ, under the guidance of Professor Maria Luz Lopez Rodriguez. In March 2018, she joined the Institute of Molecular Pharmacy at the university of Basel for her PhD studies, under the supervision of professor Daniel Ricklin and Dr. Oliver Schwardt and  professors Marko Anderluh and Janez Mravljak at the university of Ljubljana. Her work is focused on the identification of potent and selective ligands for therapeutically relevant Siglec proteins.
